Hail to the Chief!

Indulge me while I get patriotic….

Can you believe it?  I couldn’t and I wouldn’t until Obama spoke.  I kept waiting for some recall on Ohio or Florida, some sort of mid-election hyper-drama over voting machines and miscounted ballots. Man that former prez of ours G.W., what a jerk! I mean he seriously messed with us!  But let’s not waste time dwelling on him because he’s about to be ousted along with his Republican cronies.  It’s bye-bye Bush!

So how many of you felt proud last night for the first time, in your adult life, to be American?  I am really proud.  I am singing and beaming with pride.  For once there is a president who doesn’t want to waste time pointing fingers, who believes we can rise above our differences to aide the greater good.  For the first time I say Hail to the Chief and I got your back Prez.

Last night represents the beginning.  We must surrender the archaic cavemen ideals of the past.  We have to get reals, my friends.  There is too much suffering in the U.S.A.  brought on by injustice.  Now is the time.  On a personal level, I will tell you that in the past, I would have rubbed this victory in the faces of Republicans I know.  But not anymore. Why? Because it just isn’t neighborly, it isn’t productive and it’s pretty immature.  On the heels of last night’s victory, I am making a pledge to not oppress those who have oppressed me. At this very moment, that is one thing I can do but I promise that I will do more.

Keep on rockin with Barack in the free world!

In route to Ritual’s overcrowded coffee bar, thoughts of Obama being elected added a swiftness to my stride.  I couldn’t believe it, I was feeling inspired. Then just as quickly, images of the last two elections smacked me back into reality and suddenly I felt I was dragging my old cynical self down the pavement.

In an effort to restore some sense of hope within myself, I am opting to stare into the eyes of inspiration and cast out that depressing, pessimistic attitude I have been carrying around for the last eight years plus.  Foolish maybe, but I am tired of being all drab and farty about everything.  But hey if you all out there want to remain cynical I understand.  In all fairness, how can you not be cynical after the last two elections.

The wave of optimism has made me delusional, suddenly I am doings things I would never normally do:

1- blog (blogging is for assholes, right?)

2- blog about something I find inspiring (gag-reflex, how narcissistic and gross)

Ok so here goes, a short list (in no particular order) of things I find inspiring.
